Major Russian Strikes Cut Electricity Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have faced escalating strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were wounded while inhabitants in the city's east were experienced blackouts and dealt with interruptions to water supplies, as stated by local authorities.

At the same time, a minor was lost their life in a separate aerial attack in the southeastern region in the southern area, according to regional authorities.

Moscow has intensified assaults on electrical systems over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "concrete actions" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not window dressing but decisive action - from the US, European nations and the G7 - in delivering air defence systems and implementing sanctions," he wrote in a online statement.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen missiles attacked energy facilities, characterizing such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were working to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles damaged energy infrastructure and residential structures in the capital.

Multiple people wounded in the strikes on the capital have been taken to hospital, according to city authorities.

Local officials said the urban area endured heavy assaults overnight. A young boy died and three other people were hurt.

The attacks succeed evenings of bombing campaigns in the territory, sections of which are currently controlled by Russian forces.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are tougher to detect.

National leaders told journalists that Moscow was intentionally trying to demolish the national power system, with strikes already impacting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and officials were anticipating more assaults.
