Norris Edges Out Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the points lead from Piastri by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he rotated at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the curbs on exit before sliding over the run-off area, and was lucky to avoid just a light touch of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn before the final bend on to the main straight.
Hamilton ended the session in P19, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
