One two-month journey around the Australian Coast is being halted days after the tragic passing of an senior lady who was stranded by the cruise liner on a distant coastal location.

The passenger had been walking on the tropical location with fellow passengers from the vessel, but separated from the excursion for a pause. The ship sailed away leaving her and came back several hours later after the personnel realised the passenger was not present.

An extensive hunt located her person the following day.

Officials are looking into the event, alongside law enforcement and the official investigator.

Chief Executive of the voyage organizer said that passengers and staff on the ship were informed that the remainder of the voyage had been cancelled due to the "unfortunate death and prior mechanical issues".

Via official communication, he mentioned that guests would be provided a full refund, and said the operator was working "to arrange the return journeys of the individuals via private aircraft".

Officials also issued an updated statement, and said they had "issued a notice to the Commander" prohibiting any further travelers from getting on the ship.

The spokesperson said that they would visit the vessel in Cairns upon its arrival.

The ship initially left the coastal city on the 24th of October, and was just two days into the journey at the time of the elderly woman's demise. Lizard Island was the initial destination on the itinerary.

The offspring of the elderly passenger said that her relatives was "surprised and grieved that the vessel left Lizard Island after an planned tour without my mother".
